...It is a very delightful place to stay located just behind the wonderful Schwarzwald Open Air Museum - the Vogtsbauernhof. It's peaceful and quiet and the lady who runs it is extremely nice and friendly. She doesn't speak English, but her children do. Our room was located on the second floor. The ceiling was really low, so if you're extremely tall, i.e. 6' 1" or taller, you might have difficulty with that room. I think some of the other rooms have higher ceilings. We only saw one couple staying there other than ourselves, but there were a number of cars parked outside. I don't know if they were the cars of other guests, or if they worked there. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn't insist on a fancy, expensive hotel. The location is great since you are within easy driving distance to any of a number of great things to do and see. You can base yourself there and tour all of the Black Forest without any problems.

great location... great price.....

(Excerpts from Joan's Travel Report) ... We found the Hansenchristenhof without much trouble, meaning we only had to turn around once or twice to find the road leading to it. I have never stayed at a bauernhof before and this was a wonderful place to start. It's located right behind the Scharzwälder Freilichtmuseum and is so peaceful. It's run by the Kech family, a couple in their 30s or 40s. He was out working all the time so we were unable to meet him, but she is absolutely delightful...

a farm garden....

nice sign out front....

Joan loves to take pictures of windows...

...After a stroll around the area in the lingering daylight, we headed back to our room to settle in for the night...

...While Xio showered, I took the opportunity to go out and walk around and take some photos in the early morning light. It was a little nippy, but the coolness of the air felt good...

...Since we don't drink coffee or tea, we requested hot chocolate for breakfast. Our plates were set and the milk and chocolate mix were ready for us when we arrived in the breakfast room. I always eat so much breakfast when traveling that I don't get hungry again until late afternoon....

(Comments from Ben) ...PStuyvsant and I have long been meaning to check out this great looking little farm behind the Vogtsbauernhof. We noticed it several years ago while looking around in the back of the museum. It is located just past the rear gate of the museum and you can see it if you are near the restroom area. We had it on our list of places to stay in that part of the Schwarzwald. It blends in well with the old farms that are part of the open air museum - the Vogtsbauernhof... Thanks for the visit Joan!
