Veronika and George Haider

We spent 5 nights at the Hoisnhof during April, 2005 and Veronika, our host, was so friendly. Every morning she served us a huge breakfast of fresh homemade yogurt, cheeses, butter, milk, museli, jams and brown breads along with the traditional slices of meat and bakery style white bread. The Hoisnhof farmhouse is a 450 year old home and is the second oldest building in the village.

Our rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and fairly large with private baths, thick down comforters, and some of the rooms had balconies.

We were a short drive from Innsbruck and the Northern Italian border and about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Füssen, Germany. We spent a really nice day driving thru the Italian Alps and Northern Italy and spent the day in a nice village called Tyrol, Italy where the climate is moderate and they grow apples and fruit and there is also a nice castle. On our drive to Italy, we drove from snow to 80 degree temps in a matter of minutes! It was unreal! Our host, Veronica was always helpful in giving us good ideas on things to see and do in the area. She told us of nice places to hike for great views and sent us on some "interesting" (her words) roads that were narrow and curvy through some nice villages in the Austrian Alps. She also recommended the nice drive we took to Italy. One night her husband and youngest son played their trumpets for us. What a treat!

We were able to experience the birth of a calf and learn lots of interesting things about Austrian dairy farms. Now that we have been spoiled with fresh milk with no hormones or antibiotics like we get from our grocery store milk in the U.S., it is only organic milk for us from now on! There is a big difference in taste and my guess is that it is healthier.

What wonderful memories for us at Hoisnhof! We highly recommend it!
