(Carolyn) ...we stayed here for three nights when we visited Gengenbach. It was very nice with a room with a REAL king sized bed and a small balcony with a nice view overlooking the town. The Gasthof had a lovely beer garden where we ate dinner one evening (Gulaschsuppe - very good at 4.80 Euro and two large salads at 3 Euro). Plenty of parking. The morning breakfast was ample and quite good.
The Kranz was a good starting point for us as we wanted to go back to France to the small town of Obernai, just south of Strasbourg. We went there the previous year and Jim enjoyed a large bucket of mussels at a side walk cafe. He relived the experience and must have eaten 200 mussels! I go there to shop for pottery and managed to buy enough for Jim to just fit it into our luggage. We also found time to explore the northern part of the Black Forest before heading south.
